The rooms at Shoho are so cozy and comfortable! I loved the tatami floors and Japanese futon bedding because it made me feel like I was truly experiencing the traditional Japanese culture. It was so relaxing and gave me a great night's sleep.
Personally, I wasn't a big fan of the bidets in the bathrooms. But hey, that's just my preference.

I recently stayed at this wonderful ryokan in Matsumoto for two nights. The staff were amazing and spoke Japanese fluently. Our room had a fantastic view of the city and featured an onsen bath. We also had our own private dining room for breakfast and dinner. What impressed me the most was the sincere efforts of our "butler" who wrote out the kaiseki dinner in English notes and spoke English to introduce the menu. The overall experience was fantastic and I would definitely stay here again.
Would recommend this hotel.

The hotel had exclusive amenities that met our luxurious needs. the spacious and clean rooms offered beautiful views of the city/mountains, and the fully stocked gift shop had everything we needed. the onsen at the venue was the highlight of our stay. the indoor and outdoor hot spring baths were spacious, not crowded, and very clean.
Although the hotel staff was friendly and check-in was a breeze, the language barrier made it difficult to communicate. the restaurant service was slow, and we felt service was not enough.

We recently stayed at a ryokan, style hotel on the outskirts of a Japanese town. the views of the surrounding mountains were breathtaking, especially when enjoyed from our comfortable room. the hotel offered a delicious and varied breakfast buffet, and we also enjoyed the traditional multi, course dinner served at their restaurant. the location was convenient, with regular public transportation to the city center and nearby department store and supermarket.
the hotel lacked an English, speaking staff, and communication was sometimes a challenge.

Stunning mountain views, spacious and clean room with traditional Japanese interior design, excellent service, included breakfast and dinner, relaxing hot spring baths, well-facilitated with multiple amenities.
Although there were minor drawbacks, such as the location being a bit far from the city and the lack of English-speaking staff, they did not overshadow the overall positive experience.

I had a wonderful stay at Shoho in Matsumoto. the staff at the hotel were extremely courteous and made me feel welcome throughout my stay. the rooms were clean and comfortable, with a nice view of the city. the highlight for me was the onsen facilities, with two options to choose from - one with a garden view and one with a city view. the onsen baths were relaxing and well-maintained. the buffet breakfast offered a decent variety of food to cater to different dietary preferences.
Didn't dislike anything about the property. 🌟

The breakfast was decent and included both Western and Japanese options. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. The location was great as it was near the main station and in a central area.
The staff was not helpful and friendly. Our room was very small and cramped.
